So I’ve noticed my recent trend in musical taste has skewed away from hip-hop. I’ve just gotten bored. It has become too formulaic and repetitive. Ironically, I have moved towards the most repetitive music their is…house.
I have written about Wale, posted a song by Kid Sister, if you know me then you know my fanboyism for Lupe and Kanye, but other than that I don’t see a lot of prospects for the future. I’ve listen to Kanye and Lupe so much that I need something new but that won’t happen ’til after the tour. Kid Sister kind of sucks and Wale is still putting out mixtapes.
Let’s rewind though.
I always have a tendency with music to find as much as possible by an artist if I hear a track I like. Keep the good ones, trash the rest. So when I saw that caveman commercial, I went online and found a ton of Royksopp. I ended up liking some of their other songs as well the remixes by other DJs.
Slowly but surely, my electronic/DJ collection has grown. From 2 Many DJs, Benny Benassi (why the hell are their no Wendy‘s in Allston/Brookline) and some Soulwax remixes. It’s come to the point that I definitely am a fan of this bass thumping genre.
Most recently I have been listening to MSTRKRFT who I only know about because he did a collaboration with PUMA. He made a limited edition 5000M which are pretty sick and I didn’t remember to look him up until this week. Had I done it then I probably would not have kept it around but know I’m glad I have it.
MSTRKRFT – Street Justice.
The other thing in my Electronica rotation has been Justice. A lot of people have heard the song D.A.N.C.E. But the rest of the album isn’t really like that at all. It’s a lot “edgier” (hate that word) than this. I
downloaded the album after Marti offered me tickets in Boston. It was loud at first but now I like it.
