Inspirations

I HAVE MADE A HUGE DISCOVERY!!!!!

I’ve been sitting on this post for a minute, trying to make sure the media was correct to prove my point. Kanye is an inspiration to so many people, just look at the comments on his blog, and I think I’ve figured out where he got his inspiration for some of his latest exploits.

It’s been proven that his signature shoe takes details from the Marty McFly boot from Back to the Future II. Staying with the late 80s/early 90s trends, its kind of glaring that the Glow in the Dark tour is inspired from the timeless Disney creation, A Goofy Movie. Specifically, the ’95 radical character of the Powerline, the rockstar voiced by Tevin Campbell.

I doubt West would ever admit to biting his new act from Tevin Campbell, who onced wooed Ashley from Fresh Prince. But lets look at some evidence, both from Max’s imitation performance in the opening of the film and the concert performance from the real Powerline in LA.

Max Goof as Powerline – Stand Out

Stronger Live in Chicago

Notice the colors, smoke, screens and the illusion of flying. I’ll go on.

Powerline in LA – Eye to Eye

Kanye Grammy Performance (specifically Stronger)

Bonus: Kanye G-Shock Performance in NYC (NSFW)

Notice, again the colors, effects and he’s pretty much wearing the same shades as Max in the other video in his G-Shock performance.

I’d say it’s pretty safe to say that Kanye was a Disney fan at 18.

  1. AMAZING. goofy movie references are so nostalgic for me… and kanye better keep up the 80s/90s throwback style… it makes the world a more colorful place to live in.
