No More Cake

Keeping with the trend of awesome music videos, I ran into this dope video on YouTube. I don’t know anything about the band at all but the song is pretty chill. The real treat is the video. A crazy day in the life shot in 1st person done 3 different ways. It’s definitely worth sticking around to the end.

It’s the video for Luv Deluxe by Cinnamon Chasers.

Also, the girl in the video looks A LOT like Aubrey Plaza.

It instantly reminded me of The Prodigy video for Smack My Bitch Up. An incredible video that was banned from MTV, and not because of the lyrics. The ending for this is a trip.

If you haven’t seen it, check it out and the comparisons to the Cinnamon Chasers video will be obvious.

No videos here for a while.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

I remember when I was in middle school and the early years of high school how much I really wanted to be on Real World or Road Rules. As I got older I realized how crazy the majority of the people on the show really were and how I couldn’t avoid the drama by bringing a Playstation. Eventually I realized that people that say and act however they want because “they don’t give a fuck about what ‘you’ think about ‘them'” have far more problems than the people that do and the fascination was gone.

Don’t get me wrong, a good 6 hour marathon of Real World on the weekends is a great way to nurse a hangover, but the new show I find myself drawn to is the Real World/Road Rules Challenges. They basically take the craziest, sluttiest, most desparate (and unhirable) people that have ever been on either show, pump them full of booze, make them perform feats comparable to American Gladiators and dangle a large cash prize at the finish line. It brings out the worst in people and the best of reality TV. Between this and LOST, Wednesday is my favorite night of televison.

Videos of Sound

Since MTV doesn’t play music videos anymore, I sometimes fall behind on new music videos. The videos below are both new and old, but they’re all pretty cool. Click the song titles to download the track; click the artists for their sites.

Universal Mind Control (U.M.C.) – Common featuring Pharrell

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Delivery Man – The Cool Kids

Rick Rubin – Spank Rock

Love Lockdown – Kanye West

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Bonus – Kanye performs “Heartless”, his 2nd single from his upcoming album that I had posted amaetuar video of in a prior post, at a T.I. concert in LA this weekend(?). It’s the last of the video, after Swagger Like Us and Lockdown, but the beat seems to have developed from earlier versions and it sounds like the song is going to be really good.

America’s Best Dance Crew. Such comedy. So much to discuss. If you’ve never seen it and you enjoy either, hip hop dance or laughable television, get your popcorn ready.

First of all, let’s speak on the state of “Dance” culture. I’m not an expert, more of a cynical observer, but I can’t be the only one with these opinions so I’m going to share.

1) Ummm, most of them are not the shit. Why do the crowds act like it? Every single act, the crowds goes off like it’s an Oprah Show. I get it that much of the crowd are paid extras that couldn’t give a shit but I’ve noticed this at the few dance shows I’ve been gone to live. It’s weird the amount of energy they have.

2) Asians are taking over the world. At least some of the parts of the world formally dominated by black people. They’ve already invaded the street fashion world, (so much for FUBU) They are now trying to take over the Dance game. Of all the “crews” on the show only one is predominantly black [no suprise, they’re from Detriot]. When did all of this happen? At Asia Club viewings of Better Luck Tomorrow? I missed the memo.

3) Just ’cause being a dancer doesn’t automatically make you gay, it does probably make you a douche.

Now, on to the show.

1) – The judges are Lil Mama, JC Chasez and Shane Sparks……………Exactly. While Lil Mama is fairly intelligent and I think has a modicum of respect as a dancer, isn’t this all she’s known for?

– Jc Chasez. He tries weally, weally hard. Too bad there can only be one Justin Timberlake.

– Shane Sparks. Who the fuck is Shane Sparks? At least he does seem to know what he’s talking about.

2) Holy shit! It’s AC Slater!! Hosting a dance show!!! I don’t get it either!!!! Just smile and nod.

3) They do these little featurettes of each crew before they perform “live”. They’re so contrived it’s gross. They make the teams do some really dumb shit in attempt to give the audience some perspective on the creative dance process. It looks like a VH1 confessional.

All the hate I just unleashed on this show are really all the reasons why you should watch it. All elements combined it makes for a pretty entertaining show. Plus, the dancing is pretty good. Don’t say I didn’t tell you so.

EDIT: I really am a huge hater for this post but the show is ridiculous.
